Today started slowly at Memory Lane.

After two straight days of rain, everything felt cool, damp, and peaceful this morning. When we woke up it was only 49 degrees outside and honestly none of us were in much of a hurry to start the day.

Even Wyatt did not want to go outside.

The rain has been cold and wet, but the property absolutely loves it. The trees are bright green right now, the plants are thriving, and everything around Memory Lane feels alive again.

Lush and Green

We finally got moving around 11:30 this morning and headed over to the Brick House Bakery for lunch. We tried the chicken caesar wrap and the chipotle chicken wrap, and both were excellent (sorry no photos). After being stuck inside for two days, getting out for lunch and exploring a little felt good.

From there we headed to Walmart to grab a few groceries along with some weed and feed for the grass. We have not put it down yet, so it is still too early to review it, but our hope is that if we can reduce the weeds, the grass will start to thrive, look better, and maybe even require less mowing over time. At least that is the theory 🤷‍♂️

While we were there, we also got lucky and found two Granny Smith apple trees. Everywhere else we checked was completely sold out.

After Walmart, we stopped at Agway and picked up a peach tree to continue expanding our little orchard at Memory Lane.

Over the last few days, we have slowly started building a makeshift garden behind the camper. So far we have added:

✅ Strawberry plant
✅ Boysenberry plant
✅ Tomato plant
✅ Cucumber plant
✅ Broccoli plant
✅ Several seed varieties we still need to organize and label properly

Garden

The peach tree and strawberry plant are already fruiting, which is exciting to see this early.

Peach Tree

It is still a very temporary setup for now, but little by little the property is starting to feel more alive again.

Wyatt’s New Food Experiment

While at Agway, we also decided to try switching Wyatt over to a beef based dog food to see if it works better with his stomach than the chicken based food he has been eating.

So far we would rate the food around an 8 out of 10 (See update below), although it is still early. At the very least, Wyatt absolutely seems to love it.

We also picked up a soothing chewing treat for him, and so far he seems to really like it.

Soothing Saucer

We would rate the soothing chew around a 9 out of 10 so far. Wyatt absolutely loves it. The only minor downside is having to mix the powder into a paste before filling it, but honestly that is expected with products like this.

That said, being trapped inside for two straight rainy days has turned Wyatt into an absolute tornado of energy.

He just wants to be outside running nonstop.

At the moment, he is still flying around chasing his Chuckit ball like his life depends on it 😒

The Hummingbirds Have Moved In

One thing we have noticed recently is how much the hummingbirds seem to like the area around the camper and garden.

We think the fruit trees we placed there make them feel protected.

A few days ago we bought some small hummingbird feeders with suction cups that attach directly to the camper windows. They have actually worked surprisingly well.

Humming Bird

We would rate these feeders around an 8 out of 10 so far. The hummingbirds seem to prefer them because they can actually stand, rest, and eat comfortably. The only real downside is the suction cups. Both feeders have fallen off the window already and one feeder broke after falling.

After seeing activity around them, we bought a 10 pack of mini hummingbird feeders and installed four more.

So far we would rate the mini feeders around an 8 out of 10. They were easy to setup, easy to use, and the hummingbirds immediately started using them. One out of the first four feeders we opened arrived damaged, but overall we have still been happy with them.

The hummingbirds definitely seem happy with the setup.

Ending the Day Around the Fire

After finishing our 7 PM walk tonight, we finally settled down and started a campfire. Since everything was wet, we had to start the fire with a Duraflame

Fire

There is something relaxing about ending a cool rainy day sitting near the fire while the woods slowly wake back up after the rain.

Dinner tonight is spaghetti and meatballs, breadsticks, and burrata cheese.

And while we are trying to relax, Wyatt is still running circles around us with entirely too much energy after being cooped up for two days.

Some things never change at Memory Lane.

UPDATE: A few days ago we mentioned switching Wyatt over to a beef based dog food to see if it worked better for him.

Well… Wyatt apparently had other opinions 😂

He only ate the food for about two days before he started literally pushing the bowl away and refusing to eat it.

So back to the store I went to buy the chicken formula again.

At this point I am officially removing the review score entirely. This is not a reflection of the product itself because the issue honestly seems to come down purely to Wyatt’s personal preference.

Apparently he has decided chicken is non negotiable.
